Joe Miller is principal of joe miller’s company, an instructor in design at San José State University, and serves on the boards of directors of two regional nonprofit organizations. Joe’s work has been recognized in AIGA Annuals, The Design of Dissent, JUST DESIGN / Socially Conscious Design for Critical Causes, and scores of other books, publications, and competitions including AIGA Cause/Affect, a World AIDS Day design award from the U.S. Postal Service, the idealist.org international nonprofit design competition, and recognition of social design in several design exhibitions and competitions, including the International Design Conference at Aspen. In collaboration with AIGA, SJSU, and other organizations, Joe has organized and facilitated dozens of talks and educational forums on design.

Along with corporate clients, joe miller’s company has worked with a wide range of nonprofit community and cultural organizations including Works/San José, The Tech Museum, The Good Shepherd Fund, San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, Free at Last, Arts Council Silicon Valley, Poetry Center San José, Association for Viet Arts, Vivace Youth Chorus of San José, Ravenswood Family Health Center, BUILD, Santa Clara County World AIDS Day, Commonwealth Club Silicon Valley, ZER01SJ, Recording for the Blind, Newton Program for autism, Contemporary Asian Theatre Scene, anotherposterforpeace, and several other organizations in community service and the arts.
